We have received such an incredible response for The Math Tree. Its so gratifying to know that people out there in the world are enjoying it, and in particular that kids are both learning and having fun.
Giggle Apps says: “The app is very nicely realized for being an early math app focusing on easy addition and subtraction as well as teaching about zero – a concept that is not always included in this level of first apps for children. My son – now five – has math abilities past what is focused on in this app, so it is quite a compliment that he found it engaging.” Read the full review here.
At the iTunes App Store AlphaBamboo says: “This app is great for teaching basic math. Seeing, moving and being able to count the objects that are being added or subtracted is so helpful for understanding these concepts. My 2 year old and 4 year old both love it. We play it together but it is clear enough that they can play it on their own. Great visual and auditory reinforcement. Thank you!”
Thank you AlphaBamboo, Giggle Apps, and our other friends out there, for taking the time to leave some positive feedback for a product you enjoy. It inspires me to keep on truckin’!
A New Year, and a new look for our first and favorite app Shape-O! ABC’s for iPad. Yep, as you have requested – full support for retina displays, with gorgeous crisp detail on all the texture and colors. While we were at it, we gave the whole app a bit of a spring clean.
Changes you might notice:
- all new success graphics when a puzzle is completed
- the play screen menu buttons are larger and simpler
- the puzzle colors have been freshened up
- the tiger icon & the little bird are cuter
Shape-O! ABC’s for iPad still features over 120 puzzles that invent creative scenes, creatures and objects from a collection of shapes. Did you see this cute video of a little one playing Shape-O?
Hope you love the update as much as I do! Check out these screenshots:
Best. App. Yet. Early reading support with comprehensive phonetics! Over 200 words, sentences, and photographs. Six unique game scenes to explore and twenty reward activities. It’s the biggest most jam packed app we have attempted so far.

The Christmas craziness does have a tendency to get out hand. I like to try to keep things real by hand making gifts for my kids and husband, and encouraging them to do the same. This year I sewed a face pillow for my eldest daughter Misha. (Note the “M” on the back secret pocket.) I’m not a highly skilled sewer by any stretch but its fun to get creative away from the computer screen for a while.
And while we are on faces, how awesome is is smushy face globe by the above-mentioned daughter?
Misha woke one morning determined that today was the day a bunny had to be made. She urgently needed a small and obliging pet. She designed out a drawing showing how she wanted it to look, and chose all the fabrics and threads. We found an old holey woolen sweater belonging to Misha’s dad and set to work cutting out the various needed pieces. Misha stitched the eyes and the carrot herself! I gotta say, that pom-pom puff tail just gets me.
